Vanguard Protection Patrol Officer Arrests Suspect After Brief Fight
Canyon County CA Nov 8 2021 A Vanguard Protection Patrol officer assigned to Canyon Country conducted a patrol of a client property on Soledad Canyon Road and Vilna Avenue, said Shawn Saathoff, spokesperson for Vanguard.
“He observed a subject known to have been involved in prior criminal contacts on the property, and stopped to speak with him,” Saathoff said.
Once the security guard confirmed the suspect’s identity and saw a signed arrest warning in the database, he made an attempt to place the suspect in custody, according to Saathoff.
“However, while placing the suspect in handcuffs, he broke the Officer’s grip in an attempt to evade arrest,” Saathoff said. “The suspect then attacked the officer and during the struggle, he attempted to remove the officer’s service weapon from its holster.”
The officer was able to block the suspect’s attempt and after a brief struggle, subdued the man and placed him in handcuffs.
“During a search of the area near where the suspect was contacted, officers found a claw hammer and a large grocery bag containing over one pound of marijuana,” Saathoff said.
The suspect was later transferred to the custody of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and booked on trespassing, assault and battery charges.
