Joliet man smashes Harrah’s Casino security officer’s eyeglasses during attack
JOLIET, IL Nov 13 2021— A 41-year-old Joliet who went to the Harrah’s Casino on Thursday afternoon now faces three criminal charges after Joliet police say he threw a beer on one of the security guards and then broke the security guard’s eyeglasses during a confrontation.
Joliet police were called to the downtown casino shortly before 4 p.m. and officers hauled away Jarrod Barnes in handcuffs, arresting Barnes on two counts of battery and one count of criminal property damage.
“Officers determined that Barnes began yelling and cursing at a Harrah’s security guard, who then ordered Barnes to leave the property,” Joliet police reports show. “While Barnes was exiting the property, he turned around and began angrily approaching the security guards at which time Barnes threw a beer at one of the guards.”
Joliet police say Barnes broke the eyeglasses of one of Harrah’s security guards while struggling with multiple security guards.
Harrah’s security was able to detain Barnes, and he was then placed into custody without incident by Joliet police officers, authorities said.
Barnes lives in the 400 block of Kungs Way on the city’s west side, jail records show.
