Miami-Dade Police Officer Dead After Suicide Attempt

A Miami-Dade Police Department officer who attempted suicide in Tamarac Sunday has died, authorities said.
Officer Adly Joseph, who served in the department’s Northside District, was remembered Monday as a dedicated, caring colleague.
“It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the untimely passing of Officer Adly Joseph of our Northside District,” Alfredo Ramirez III, Director of Miami-Dade Police, announced on Twitter Monday. “On behalf of the Miami-Dade Police Department, our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and our Northside District Community during this difficult time.”
Broward Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received a call at approximately 6:40 p.m. Sunday about a person making suicidal threats in the 6800 block of Commercial Boulevard in Tamarac.
BSO deputies arrived on the scene and determined that an off-duty Miami-Dade Police Department officer had attempted suicide. Miami-Dade Police were in contact with the officer, as was a crisis negotiator, according to BSO.
The officer was airlifted to a nearby hospital before his death was announced Monday.
