California Target robbed, armed man shoots at security
Capitola, CA Dec 10 2021
Capitola police are looking for armed robbers who say they have shot guards in response to an ongoing theft in an attempt to steal two large-screen TVs from the target.
Andrew Dally, Capitola Police Chief, said:
Police said the suspect stepped into the Capitra target on Monday night and took two 75-inch TVs out. When a Target employee faced him, the suspect flashed his pistol, dropped the television, and crossed a parking lot accused of using the gun to respond to security guards.
“Seeing the suspect run away, seeing him run away, he turned around, pulled out the firearm, and released a round that hit the passenger side of the guard vehicle,” Darry said.
An employee who worked at the time of the robbery said the store was closed shortly after the shooting. Employees and customers have been trapped within the target for their own safety.
“When we were told we were blocked, we took it so seriously that we started moving everyone downstairs. Keep everyone away from the door and make sure everyone is wonderfully safe. “I did,” said Manuel Castro, a target employee.
Shoppers were shocked and saddened by the news when they were informed about the news on Tuesday afternoon.
“This is happening a lot more in our area, which is very sad,” said Mary Beth Kahalen.
Police believe the suspect acted alone and was not part of the state-wide buzzing Smash and Grab operation and flash robbery. However, in this case, the robbery raised a lot of concern, as the suspect was accused of firing a firearm. Fortunately, no one was injured this time.
“I think it’s a bit overkill so that no one tries to stop you for the TV. You don’t have to point your gun at someone I feel rude,” Castro said.
“That’s worrisome. It’s 8-9 pm at the mall … We now have all the resources to devote to it. Our detectives are working on it and try to put together the cases as much as possible. “Darry said.
Police are investigating whether the suspect is the same person who swung his pistol at a nearby Chevron gas station on December 1.
Investigators described the suspect as a 25-35 year old, 5 foot, 7 inch to 5 foot, 10 inch high, medium-sized adult male.
