Seattle Police Officers Arrest 35 People In Downtown Organized Retail Theft Operation
Seattle WA December 18 2021 Officers arrested 35 people Wednesday at a downtown store as part of SPD’s ongoing work to deter organized retail theft.
Throughout the day, officers watched individuals steal tens of thousands of dollars worth of cutlery, kitchen sets, detergent, and large quantities of liquor from the store and walk out the front door.
Officers then stopped them, identified them, recovered the merchandise, and provided them with a trespassing notice, prohibiting them from returning to the retail store on 2nd Avenue for a year. Police then released them from the scene. One man was booked into the jail on a Department of Corrections warrant.
SPD continues to work with businesses in the downtown core to address organized theft and ensure a safe holiday shopping season for everyone.
