Man threatens security guard with axe in downtown Sioux City parking ramp
SIOUX CITY, Iowa Dec 24, 2021— A man is in custody after chasing a security guard with an axe on Friday.
According to court documents, at 6:15 a.m. on Friday, December 17th, officers responded to a report of a security guard being chased by a 31-year-old Jeremy Ross, a transient, with an axe at the Discovery Ramp Parking garage located at 419 Jones Street.
The security guard was making rounds in the Skywalk area when he advised Ross that he could not be loitering in the area and had to leave.
The guard continued to make rounds and came back to find the defendant still in the area.
The guard re-addressed Ross and the defendant became upset, grabbed the axe, and came charging at the guard.
Documents said that the security guard fled from the area to avoid getting assaulted by the defendant.
Officers located the defendant close by in a different area. The suspect did not have the axe with him and advised he had gotten rid of it in an alley.
Ross is currently in the Woodbury County Jail for aggravated assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.
