Responding CA Pumper Struck by Gun Fire
Richmond CA Feb 2, 2022 A Richmond fire crew was caught in the crossfire of an alleged drive-by shooting earlier this week, narrowly avoiding injury when the pumper was struck.
Firefighters on Engine 64 were responding to a medical call when the apparatus was struck by multiple rounds.
Richmond Firefighters Local 188 posted on photos and their story on Facebook, calling the incident a near-miss.
“Luckily, none of the crew was struck by the gunfire, however the fire engine didn’t fair so well as it was left with multiple bullet holes in the drivers side,” Richmond Firefighters Local 188 posted on Facebook.
“Selfish and unnecessary acts such as this not only put the innocent members of our community in danger, but also the lives of our members who have sworn to protect the citizens of our community.
The work of a firefighter is already dangerous enough, the last thing our members should have to worry about is being killed while working tirelessly to save the life of a citizen in need.”
