LBJ High School student caught with a marijuana begs security to flush it down the toilet
Laredo TX Feb 7, 2022 An LBJ High School student caught with a marijuana baggie inside the restroom told a security guard to “please” flush it down the toilet, according to the UISD Police Department.
Paulino Diaz Jr., 17, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. He was later released on bond, according to Webb County Jail records.
At about 8:40 a.m. Thursday, UISD police officers responded to the main hallway restrooms. A strong odor of marijuana emitted from the male’s restroom, authorities said. An officer walked inside the restroom where a security guard gave the officer a baggie containing 0.2 ounces of marijuana. The security guard stated he went inside the male’s restroom after smelling the marijuana odor coming from inside.
He saw several students and told them to stand against the wall for safety reasons. The security guard then heard several students flushing the toilets. He told the students inside the stalls to walk out and leave the doors open.
“It was at this time that one male student properly identified as Paulino Diaz Jr. … handed (the security guard) the clear plastic baggie containing the green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and asked (the security guard) to please get rid of the marijuana by flushing down the toilet,” states the affidavit.
This is not Diaz’s first encounter with authorities.
On Dec. 15, the Texas Department of Public Safety arrested Diaz while he was observed coordinating and guiding multiple vehicles loaded with migrants into a trailer in the 14600 block of Archer Drive, according to an arrest affidavit.
Authorities approached the trailer and discovered 82 men and 18 women who had crossed the border illegally. Diaz was arrested and charged with smuggling of persons, likelihood of serious bodily injury or death for that case.
