Tulsa police fatally shoot robbery suspect
TULSA, Okla. Feb 8 222 Tulsa police fatally shot a robbery suspect after he didn’t comply with officers’ commands and pulled a pistol from his waistband, police said Saturday.
The shooting happened Friday after officers tracked the man suspected of robbing someone outside a check cashing business to a nearby neighborhood, police said.
Police said a man said he was getting into his vehicle after cashing a check when a man dressed in all black and wearing a ski mask pulled a gun on him and demanded his money.
The suspect took the money and fled on a bicycle, police said.
A police helicopter located the suspect on the bicycle and officers converged. When officers contacted the suspect, he ran for about a block before stopping, police said.
Police said the suspect failed to comply with officers’ commands and pulled out a semi-automatic pistol. Police said officers were then forced officers to fire their duty pistols.
The suspect was taken to a hospital, where he died early Saturday.
Police didn’t immediately release the suspect’s name.
Per policy, the three officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave.
