Man beats female Panama City hospital security officer unconscious
PANAMA CITY FL Nov 23 2017 — A Bay County man has been arrested after he allegedly attacked multiple hospital staff members and beat a security guard until she was unconscious, according to arrest reports.
Michael McCall Peacock, 20, appeared in court Tuesday in connection with the case. He was arrested about 2 a.m. Monday at Bay Medical Sacred Heart Health Center, 615 N. Bonita Ave., after a disturbance ended with three hospital personnel sustaining injuries.
Peacock has been charged with two felony counts of battery on hospital staff and one count of battery on a security guard, court records stated.
Peacock, of Panama City Beach, is being held at the Bay County Jail. He could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
Panama City Police Department officers reported arriving to the hospital to find four people restraining Peacock in a room.
What caused the outburst was unclear. Moments earlier, Peacock had been “calm until he wanted his phone,” police reported.
After the attack, two nurses and a security guard were admitted to the hospital as patients.
Police reported that Peacock first threw the security guard to the ground and struck her multiple times in the face and arms as she attempted to defend herself. Peacock struck the security guard until she was unconscious, police reported.
During the attack, Peacock struck one nurse in the face, leaving a bruise under his eye, and grabbed another nurse’s hand hard enough to cause it to bleed, police reported.
Hospital staff then sedated Peacock and restrained him in a hospital bed until police arrived.
It was not the first time Peacock was taken to the Bay County Jail. He recently was deemed mentally unable to stand trial after being arrested for shoplifting at a local retail store with a less than 20 grams of marijuana and rolling papers on him, court records stated.
