Tennessee Titans linebacker Bud Dupree turned himself in on a misdemeanor assault charge Friday after being cited in connection with a fight at a Nashville, Tennessee, store last month.
Dupree, 28, reported for booking at the Davidson County courthouse at 9:15 a.m., a Metro Nashville Police Department spokesperson told The Tennessean. Dupree was fingerprinted and had his mugshot taken and was released.
Davidson County court records show he’s slated to return to court for a settlement hearing on April 22.
Nashville police cited Dupree, whose name is Alvin Dupree Jr., on Jan. 4 after a interaction police said he had with Walgreens employees two days earlier.
Police said Dupree was at the store in the 1100 block of Rosa L. Parks Boulevard the evening of Jan. 2 with “several” companions when some of the companions got into an argument with a male employee.
According to the citation, Dupree grabbed the employee and his phone and got into a “physical altercation.” The employee was filming, MNPD spokesperson Don Aaron said.
When officers arrived at the scene, Dupree was gone. The male employee was treated for a cut to his forehead, and a female employee was also treated for a cut on her hand.
On Friday, Dupree remained on the team’s roster.
A Titans’ spokesman declined to comment on the case until it is resolved.
Dupree just finished the first year of a five-year, $82.5 million deal he signed with the Titans in March.
Dupree had a slow start to 2021 thanks to his surgically-repaired knee — he tore his ACL in December 2020 — and a Week 10 abdominal injury, which landed him on injured reserve for three games. But he had three sacks in Tennessee’s last five games, including the divisional-round loss to the Bengals
