Michigan deputy sheriff killed during pursuit
Oakland County MI Nov 23 2017 An Oakland County, Michigan Sheriff’s deputy was killed after being struck during a police pursuit early
Thursday morning.
The deputy, who has not yet been identified, was outside of his patrol car preparing to deploy Stop Sticks when the fleeing suspect struck him, according to a news release.
The suspect’s vehicle rolled over following the crash and the suspect was taken into custody.
The pursuit began in Lapeer County and went westbound on I-69 to southbound M-15 before it entered Oakland County in Brandon Township. The crash occurred at the intersection of southbound M-15 and Seymour Lake Road
The deputy is a 22-year veteran of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
“We ask that you keep his friends and family in your prayers,” the Sheriff’s Office wrote.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigation Unit is currently investigating the crash.
