Nashville security find 3 men who overdosed, 2 die, one revived
NASHVILLE, Tenn. May 4 2022 A security officer patrolling the Hermitage Hotel in Nashville found three men unconscious of an apparent drug overdose.
The Metro Police investigation continues into these two suspected overdose deaths potentially due to fentanyl outside of a downtown hotel on Tuesday morning.
Police said 34-year-old Joshua Wolfe from Elkhorn, Nebraska, and 25-Karl Smith, of Lac la Biche, Alberta, Canada, died after being found unresponsive on n 6th Avenue North around 4:40 a.m.
First responders used Narcan and revived a 26-year-old from Elkhorn, Nebraska, and a friend of Wolfe.
Police said Wolfe and his friend arrived in Nashville together to visit with a relative last Friday and were scheduled to leave on Tuesday. Police said they don’t believe that Smith knew the two men from Nebraska before “apparently meeting in the entertainment district last night/early this morning.”
Narcotics detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division’s Neighborhood Safety Unit are searching for surveillance footage of the incident. Anyone with any information should call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
Detectives said they met with the surviving man, but he “said he does not remember what took place.” It is unclear if anyone may have sold or given the victims an illicit drug.
