Mall security, police nab man enticing young girls at mall
KINGSTON, MA May 11, 2022— A man from Worcester was arrested in Kingston Sunday after police say he tried to entice a 13-year-old into having sex at the Kingston Collection Mall.
Martin Joe Rosa, 52, of Worcester, will be arraigned Monday and is expected to receive a felony charge for enticing a child under the age of 16.
Rosa was able to be caught after the 13-year-old provided police with a description after 5 p.m. on Sunday.
“His description is really what made the job easy for us to be able to respond fast and locate him as fast as we did,” said John Sjostedt, the Kingston police dispatcher who received the call.
Sjostedt immediately contacted mall security who then found Rosa making advances toward a 15-year-old girl who was in a group of four teenagers at the mall.
According to Kingston Police Sgt. Michael Skowyra, Rosa “made statements along the lines of, ‘What do I have to do to get in your pants tonight?’ Things like that.” The teenagers also told police Rosa had offered to buy them drugs and alcohol.
“These kids did the right thing,” Skowyra added. “When you’re talking to older men who you don’t know, that’s where the question comes into play as to what their motivations are.”
Skowyra also applauded the dispatcher who was able to contact security fast enough to prevent a potential tragedy.
Rosa was arrested and has an arraignment scheduled for Monday.
