MD security guard charged with raping another man
LANGLEY PARK, MD. Dec 2 2017 Prince George’s County Police have charged a security guard with raping another man while impersonating a police officer.
Police arrested 36-year-old Michael Bell of Upper Marlboro. He is charged with rape, impersonating a police officer and other offenses.
Police said in a news release Thursday that the victim was in Langley Park Sunday night when he was approached by Bell in a car. The victim told police Bell had a badge hanging around his neck and identified himself as a police officer.
Detectives say Bell told the victim that he was in a dangerous neighborhood and suggested to give the victim a ride home. Once in the victim was inside the car, police say Bell drove for a short distance before stopping and forcing the victim to perform sex acts in the car.
The victim escaped and took a picture of the car’s license plate as it sped away.
While investigating, the spokesperson said at least two other ID’s were found in Bell’s car giving police reason to believe there could be other victims.
Russette Blake told WUSA9, “He thinks he’s a cop,” as-soon-as we showed her Bell’s arrest photo.
Blake is one of Bell’s Upper Marlboro neighbors. WUSA9 explained why we were in the neighborhood.
Once we did, Blake did not want to show her face on camera but still gave an interview. Blake claims she confronted Bell about approaching her teenage daughter as if he was a police officer.
She also described a moment where Bell allegedly questioned and asked for the IDs of a few teenage boys visiting her daughter.
Another neighbor said Bell would turn on unofficial lights in his Crown Vic to get people to leave a small park and the end of their street.
A Maryland Case Search on Bell revealed he has a court history that includes firearm possession charges. It’s not immediately clear what the result of the those charges were.
Police say the victim took a quick photo of the Crown Vic’s license plate. That’s how officers say they were able to identify and arrest Bell.
