Security guard stabbed in the head near Oregon Convention Center
PORTLAND, Ore. August 9 2022— Police arrested a man suspected of stabbing a security guard in the head outside the Oregon Convention Center Monday afternoon, the Portland Police Bureau said.
Officers responded to the convention center, located off Northeast Lloyd Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, just after 3 p.m. for a 911 call about a stabbing.
At the scene, police learned that a 49-year-old man had stabbed a security guard associated with the convention center.
The stabbing occurred near the west side of the building. The victim was taken to a hospital with what police described as serious injuries.
The suspect, whose name was not released, was taken into the custody near the scene and charged with second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. He was also charged with menacing for an incident earlier on Monday.
Police later learned he had an outstanding arrest warrant for unlawful use of a weapon.
