Malibu considering bringing private security to four school campuses in city
Malibu CA Aug 11 2022
Last year, the Secret Service published a report that analyzed 67 averted school attack plots. In nearly a third of them, a School Resource Officer made a difference.
Now, the sheriff’s department which has been providing deputies to protect schools says that they do not have the manpower to continue providing that level of security for schools.
So the city is considering hiring armed security officers.
Some, especially people of color, say it’s not a good idea.
Others have stated that it’s a must-have, especially after the Uvalde school shooting.
A meeting with the school board is scheduled this week.
