Woman arrested after posting photo of handcuffs on social media following escape
ODESSA TX Dec 8 2017— A woman has been arrested allegedly escaping custody only to later post a photo of police handcuffs on her on social media.
Magdalena Gutierrez, 26, has been charged and arrested for Aggravated Assault, a 2nd Degree Felony, and Escape from Custody, a Class A Misdemeanor.
According to the Odessa Police Department, their officers responded to a call of a large disturbance at a bar in the 2000 block of Andrews Highway on Sunday evening.
When police arrived on scene they met with a security guard who asked one of the officers to handcuff a woman who had been involved in an altercation.
The officer complied and left the woman with the security guard as they went inside to investigate.
When the officer returned they discovered that the woman had escaped.
An investigation of the altercation revealed that the woman had reportedly struck a man on the side of the head with a beer bottle.
The man was taken to Medical Center Hospital where he was treated before being released.
Later the suspect made a post on her social media page showing OPD handcuffs on her, police say.
The suspect was then identified as Gutierrez. Warrants were obtained by detectives and Gutierrez was charged and arrested accordingly.
