Former Spencerport school security guard, Greece police recruit charged with child porn
Rochester, N.Y. Nov 11 2022— A man who was one a police recruit in Greece and a security guard at Spencerport High School faces federal charges for production, receipt and possession of child pornography.
Jason Lane, 27, allegedly had files containing an image of a partially nude preschool-age child at a local child care facility, along with sexually explicit images of two minor victims that appeared to be taken by Lane.
New York State Police searched an apartment in Brighton Aug. 9 and seized a cell phone. A forensic analysis recovered one file of child pornography and two files of child erotica.
A search of Lane’s Yahoo account recovered images of Spencerport High School students that appear to have been taken “surreptitiously” by Lane while he worked there, according to prosecutors. The district told 13WHAM the images were non-pornographic, and Lane worked there as a contract security guard.
The searches stemmed from a tip from Yahoo that a user uploaded approximately 260 files of child pornography. New York State Police traced the IP address back to Lane, a former Greece Police Department recruit who was fired following a probationary period.
The charges against Lane carry a penalty of 15-30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.
