Newburgh Free Academy security officers attacked, struck with a vehicle
NEWBURGH NY December 16, 2022– An incident in the parking lot of Newburgh Free Academy Main early Wednesday morning involved an assault on a security guard.
According to initial reports, at around 7:10 a.m. a security officer was struck by a car in the parking lot after which a parent and student in the vehicle got out and allegedly assaulted the security guard.
Neither the school district nor the city have released further details about the incident.
Police officials say the parent was driving the wrong way during drop-off and ignored directions to go another way. They say the parent hit the security guard with their car and their student then got out of the car and attacked a second security guard trying to help.
Both security officers were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
