HOSPITAL SECURITY OFFICER SHOT DURING “ACTIVE SHOOTER” INCIDENT

An on-duty University of Cincinnati Health Center security officer has been shot in what police described an “active Shooter” situation.
A UC Health security officer has been hospitalized in stable condition.
Cincinnati police responded to the 3200 block of Burnet Avenue around 2 p.m. for gunshots fired.
The incident shut down nearby streets and parts of the facility but was soon stabilized by police.
Cincinnati and UC police were on scene and officers have said that the suspect has died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
UC Health officials said the shooting happened at University Hospital Psychiatric Emergency Services in the 3200 block of Burnet Avenue.
The lone-gunman walked into the building about 2 p.m., and fired “multiple shots,” according to Cincinnati Police Chief Eliot Isaac.
Isaac said an unarmed security officer – who works for UC Health and is not affiliated with the Cincinnati Police Department – was shot.
Police do not know what caused the shooting but report that no one else was injured.
