ALLIED UNIVERSAL SUBSIDIARY AWARDED $17 MILLION IN AGS PRO LAWSUIT
Los Angeles CA March 28 2023 Last week Allied Universal subsidiary U.S. Security Associates was awarded $17 million by a Los Angeles County jury.
The subsidiary was engaged in a civil lawsuit against AGS Pro, Inc. (formerly Andrews Global Security), Randy Andrews, and several other individuals associated with the company for charges ranging from misappropriation of trade secrets, and breach of fiduciary duty among others.
“Allied Universal is gratified that the jury recognized the validity of the claims—including the finding that Randy Andrews and AGS Pro, Inc. acted with malice.” Kari Garcia, director of public relations for Allied Universal, told Security Systems News.
Aside from the breach of contract, the jury also awarded punitive damages to U.S. Security Associates of $2 million dollars each from Andrews Global Security, Inc. and Randy Andrews respectively. Conflict between the entities began with defendants Don Anderson and Randy Andrews separating from U.S. Security Associates to form AGS Pro. Despite the ruling against Andrews, the jury found that Anderson had not acted with malice, other than with respect to breach of contract.
