Virginia nightclub security guard shooting injuries six people
Portsmouth Virginia April 30 2023 Police are still investigating after six people were injured after a security guard fired a gun inside a Portsmouth nightclub Friday night, but according to police, only one shot was fired.
A spokesperson for Portsmouth Police said this happened at around 1:45 a.m. at the Notorious Lounge, which is located in the Manor Village Shopping Center on Portsmouth Boulevard near Hodges Ferry Rd.
They determined that some sort of altercation had taken place and that a security guard was injured, then fired his weapon.
Police said that they are needing to talk to the security guard who left before police arrived.
The spokesperson said the victims were three men and three women, and they all had “non-life-threatening gunshot wounds,” from which they’re all expected to recover from their injuries.
We spoke to the club’s owner, who told us that the shot was fired by a security guard after someone reached for a gun. The owner said that person was able to walk out and drive themselves to the hospital.
The spokesperson didn’t explain how six people were injured by a single gunshot, saying only that they were in close proximity to the person who was shot, and they were all treated for their injuries.
The shootings are till under investigation.
