Armed theft suspect shot, killed by Henderson Nevada police
Las Vegas NV June 26 2023 A man was shot and killed by a Henderson police officer after reportedly stealing from a business.
Officers responded to a report of a theft at a business near the 200 block of W. Sunset Road around 7:10 a.m. on Saturday.
According to the investigation, a Caucasian male suspect stole an item and fled to a nearby bus stop.
Officers located the suspect at the bus stop and attempted to make contact.
The suspect was uncooperative and pulled out a gun while continuing to walk away.
The suspect stopped at the entrance of a business at 1940 N. Boulder Hwy when he pointed the gun at his head.
Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, but the suspect refused.
One officer shot the suspect.
The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
No officers were reported injured.
The incident is the first City of Henderson police officer-involved shooting this year.
The investigation is ongoing.
