Alabama security guard shot, search for suspects underway

Hueytown police are investigating a shooting that injured a security guard Saturday afternoon.
It happened at around 2:30 p.m. at the Birmingham Auto Auction in the 100 block of Meadland Circle.
When officers arrived, they found that a security guard had been shot in the leg.
Investigators say the security officer was checking the business when he encountered several unknown people who ran from the scene after the shooting.
The security guard was taken to UAB hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search for suspects with a K9 and drone, but none were located.
Police said they believe that the security guard was targeted and that this was an isolated incident.
