San Clemente adds private security patrols to enforce Municipal Code
San Clemente CA July 19th, 2023
San Clemente has just begun providing private security services in the city’s beach and downtown areas.
The new services commenced on Monday, July 17, 2023, with a public event to mark the occasion being held at North Beach. This move aims to enhance the safety of the community by creating a regular security presence in the city’s busiest areas.
The private security services are designed to supplement the capacity of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and the City of San Clemente Code Compliance Division.
Their role will include enforcement of existing laws, ordinances, resolutions, and provisions of the San Clemente Municipal Code.
Despite the launch of these services, members of the public are still encouraged to report any illegal activities directly to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. The department can be contacted via 9-1-1 for emergencies, or a non-emergency dispatch number for less urgent cases.
Similarly, violations of the city’s Municipal Code can be reported to the Code Compliance Hotline or submitted online via the city’s website. This demonstrates a continued emphasis on community involvement in maintaining law and order, in conjunction with the new private security services.
San Clemente’s introduction of private security services aims to improve public safety and assist the existing law enforcement agencies. The city is inviting its citizens to participate actively in this new initiative, while also continuing to report any illegal activities to the appropriate departments.
