Houston security guard shot while confronting car burglars
Houston Texas September 13 2023 A Houston security guard was shot and seriously injured while confronting car burglars at an apartment complex on Westheimer Road, according to Houston Police Department.
The 29-year-old victim, who has not been identified, remains in stable condition at a local hospital after the incident, which took place around 10:15 p.m. on July 25. The suspects, described only as three black males, fled the scene in a Hyundai Tucson SUV.
According to HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers K. Vu and A. Garcia, the officers responded to a shooting call at the apartment complex’s parking garage. Upon arrival, they found the security guard with multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to an area hospital.
The officers were informed of possible vehicle burglaries happening at the time of the shooting. Surveillance footage from the scene showed the victim confronting three suspects who were allegedly breaking into vehicles. One of the suspects fired shots, striking the victim. Two of the suspects escaped in the Hyundai SUV, while the third suspect ran out of the garage using an outdoor staircase.
