Nashville security officer shot to death during car burglary incident
NASHVILLE, Tenn. March 18 2024 An armed security officer was shot and killed early St. Patrick’s Day morning, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Police said Maurice Thomas, Jr., 33, was shot at around 2 a.m. on Sunday in the parking lot of the Illuzion Bar and Lounge on Murfreesboro Pike.
Police said Thomas was patrolling the lot when he was approached by alleged car burglars.
Multiple shots were fired, and it is unknown if any were fired from the victim’s gun. Thomas was taken to the hospital, where he died.
Police said three vehicles were found burglarized in the parking lot. They have been impounded and are being processed as evidence.
