Enterprise man sentenced in security guard slaying
ENTERPRISE, Ala. May 3 2024 An Enterprise man will spend the rest of his life in prison for the death of a bar security guard.
Emmanuel Key, 33, was found guilty of manslaughter in the 2019 killing of Stevie Franklin. During the three-day trial in March, evidence placed Key at the Daleville Lounge on the night of the shooting.
Testimony revealed security guards, including Franklin, tried to remove a group of people from the lounge. A fight broke out and Key shot Franklin before leaving the scene.
On May 2, several of Franklin’s family members delivered victim impact statements, speaking to his character and the daughter he never got to meet.
Judge Shannon Clark ordered Key to serve a term of life in prison in the Alabama Department of Corrections.
Key has a lengthy criminal history, including three prior felony convictions, misdemeanor domestic violence and assault.
