Citizens intervene to help stop Oshkosh man trying to wrestle armed guard’s gun away during robbery
OSHKOSH, Wis. September 9 2024 A 22-year-old man in Oshkosh was arrested during an alleged attempted robbery incident where he tried to wrestle a gun away from a guard.
According to the Oshkosh Police Department, on September 6 around 1 p.m., officers responded to an attempted robbery report. A man, who was the alleged attempted robbery, was reportedly being held at gunpoint by an armed guard.
The incident was at a business in the 200 block of West 20th Avenue.

Police say the suspect tried to disarm the guard while he was servicing an ATM machine. The suspect was allegedly trying to wrestle the gun from the guard’s holster.
The release claims that three citizens intervened and held the suspect down. The suspect was stopped from removing the gun from the holster.
When authorities got to the business, the suspect was taken into custody for multiple charges. He was only identified as a 22-year-old from Oshkosh who was recently staying in his vehicle in the business’s parking lot.
Police commended the actions of the citizens who intervened.
