Natchez man fired from security job, charged with rape

A Natchez man has been arrested in Concordia Parish, Louisiana.
Javontrics Murphy, 27, was a hospital security guard employed by the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
According to officials, the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office received a criminal complaint on Aug. 30 about misconduct involving Murphy. Murphy was then placed on administrative leave and was under investigation by the Louisiana State Police.
Murphy has been charged with three counts of malfeasance in office, three counts of first-degree rape, obstruction of justice and simple battery.
“We uphold our core values to the highest degree and any misconduct that meets the threshold for criminal prosecution will be dealt with as such. I am saddened by the details of this case and stand by my commitment to protect the children in Concordia Parish,” said Sheriff Hedrick.
Officers said Murphy’s position with the CPSO has been terminated. Further inquiries regarding this case should be referred to the Louisiana State Police.
