Tucson Security Officer Sexually Assaulted
TUCSON, AZ Jan 14 2018
A security officer was sexually assaulted as she did her job early Saturday morning at a Tucson Arizona housing complex near the University of Arizona and hours later, a keen-eyed security officer on duty at a shopping mall spotted the wanted suspect and notified police who quickly captured him.
The man, identified as Carl Anthony Parris, 26, was arrested late Saturday night after he was spotted by security sleeping outside of the Park Place Mall, city police said.
The Tucson Police Department said a mall security guard learned about the man through news reports on social media.
The mall security officer told police that he saw Parris sleeping and notified a police officer who was working at the mall.
The TPD said Parris sexually assaulted a female security guard at the housing complex but did not give specifics.
Between the victim’s statement and evidence collected at the scene, detectives determined Parris was the suspect.
The victim was treated at a local hospital and is now with her family, according to the TPD.
The TPD issued a news release at 10 p.m. Saturday night and Tucson News Now quickly sent out an app alert and posted the story on Facebook and Twitter. Parris was found less than an hour later.
The TPD said Parris is extremely dangerous and warned the public not to approach him.
Detectives with TPD’s Adult Sexual Assault Unit continued the investigation and Parris was booked into the Pima County Jail for one count of kidnapping and six counts of sexual assault.
