Cook County security guard charged with felony fraud-outstanding warrants
Crestwood IL May 16 2017 A Crestwood parolee was arrested after he allegedly opened a line of credit online at a local retailer using a fake driver’s license. The man is also wanted on an active warrant, prosecutors said.
Hurtis Bibbs, 35, appeared before Cook County Judge Donald Havis on possession of a fraudulent driver’s license.
The prosecutor said Bibbs walked into Kohl’s at the Rivercrest Shopping Center on May 6. Bibbs reportedly selected clothing and then went to a self-serve kiosk to open a Kohl’s line of credit using.
Store security officers asked Bibbs if he needed help. Suspecting the driver’s license to possibly be fraudulent, security called Crestwood police. The cops were waiting for Bibbs when he walked outside, the prosecutor said.
Bibbs has a felony arrest warrant out of Whiteside County, IL. He is currently out on parole for driving on a revoked or suspended license. Illinois Department of Corrections Records also indicate convictions for other traffic and drug offenses.
The assistant public defender said Bibbs is certified as an unarmed security guard. Bail was set at $50,000. Bibbs is due back in court May 24 in Bridgeview.
