Rockford security officer-carjacked at Kmart store
ROCKFORD IL Jan 23 2018 A uniform security officer patrolling the Kmart store on Sandy hollow Road was attacked and carjacked Sunday according to the Rockford police department.
The security guard who attempted to stop a person involved in a retail theft Sunday in the parking lot at around 3:30 pm when his vehicle was taken.
A struggle ensued and the suspect was able to get in the driver’s seat of the security officer’s vehicle.
The security guard and a bystander attempted to pull the suspect out of the vehicle, but the suspect began to drive forward, dragging the security officer and bystander.
The security officer and bystander fell, and the vehicle fled the scene.
The vehicle is described as a white four-door Ford, with an “Allied Security Services” decal on the front doors. The vehicle also had a clear light bar mounted on top.
The security officer and the bystander were transported to local hospital for serious, but not life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police did not say what the attacker was trying to steal from the Kmart store.
