Giant brawl between 60 people erupts at high school basketball game
Claiton PA Feb 12 2018Â Video footage shows the moment a mass brawl involving 60 people broke out at a US high-school basketball match.
Several small fights can be seen covering the entire court as others try and diffuse the situation.
A police officer and a high school basketball player were treated for minor injuries with police officers forced to ask for backup from neighbouring police departments.
Firefighters were also called to help ventilate the school after officers used their pepper spray.
The incident took place in Clairton, Pennsylvania during a match between Clairton and Monessen schools on February 6.
The game was reportedly called off during the fourth quarter.
In the footage, the teams can be seen playing on the court.

All of a sudden, a player from each team can be seen throwing punches at each other in the corner of the court.
They push each other to the floor, as spectators approach them.
Some try and diffuse the situation while some try and join in the fight.
The fight continues to grow, moving across the court.
Adults can be seen watching, trying to size up the situation.

Meanwhile a police officer can be seen running towards the large brawl.
An adult can be seen holding back one player in white as the fight crosses the room behind them.
Screaming and shouting can be heard as the fight continues.
Towards the end of the footage, people can be seen beginning to walk away from the fight.
A police officer and basketball player were injured however not seriously.
Clairton City School District spokeswoman told WTAE that the fight was under investigation by school officials.
Alexis Trubiani said: “We take this extremely serious and we will be conducting an internal investigation as well as 100 percent cooperating with the authorities and the WPIAL.
“We are saddened by the incident and remind all those that attend any sporting event (adult and child) that violence will never be the answer.”
No arrests have been made however Clairton’s police chief Rob Hoffman said that once footage from the incident was reviewed, this may change.
