6 Security Officers Honored For Heroic Actions

Six security officers who were all involved in separate heroic and lifesaving acts have all been honored this week.
Jennifer Holmes a security officer with Hutton Properties performed CPR to save the life of a hotel guest in was in full cardiac arrest.
Holmes also used an AED and was able to bring the male patient back and get his heart beating again before paramedics arrived.
The airport in Fargo North Dakota also held an award ceremony to recognize security officer Jim Lehse for jumping into action when a man went unconscious at the Hector International Airport and went into cardiac arrest there.
Officer Lehse performed CPR until paramedics arrived and saved the man’s life.
Jim received an award at FM Ambulance in recognition of the heroic action.
The man he saved said it was amazing seeing Jim and the teams who saved his life for the first time.
“Even the doctors are calling it a miraculous recovery. Because they have never seen anyone so far gone be able to return the way they helped me return. He is still recovering from the cardiac arrest.
U.S. Security Associates also presented one of their security supervisors with an award this week for a lifesaving event that he responded to.
Security Officer Victor Reyes, who serves as the Assistant Public Safety Director at a high-end multi-use retail center in Glendale, CA, provided the necessary emergency response measures when fellow Security Officer Andreas Hernandez suffered a medical crisis and collapsed.
Officer Reyes, the first to respond, found Officer Hernandez unresponsive and with a fixed, open-eye gaze.
Suspecting a seizure as the cause, Officer Reyes rolled Officer Hernandez to his side to open his airways and facilitate better breathing. Initially, Officer Hernandez positively responded and began to breathe easier.
During the award ceremony, US Security Associates praised officer Reyes for responding and keeping his wits while using the training that he had been provided by the company.
A high school security officer has been given high praise by local enforcement for preventing a mass shooting at the school.
The security officer at El Camino High School in Whittier overhead a “disgruntled student” threaten to open fire on the school on Friday, just two days after 17 people were gunned down at a Florida high school.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Nicole Nishida said that deputies discovered “multiple guns and ammunition” after searching the student’s home.
The security officer will receive an award locally in the upcoming week.
A library security officer in New York has also been honored for his response to a car accident where a person was injured.
James Purcell, a retired New York City police officer, heard a crash and found an overturned vehicle that had crashed through the pole, he said. Purcell checked the driver, assessed the situation and assisted the driver until emergency responders could get on scene.
Riverhead Free Library trustees honored Purcell in a ceremony for his quick actions.
A Florida security officer who was shot and killed during an active shooter incident in Parkland Florida has also been recognized and awarded the Purple Heart posthumously by Private Officer International.
Aaron Feis, was a security officer at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School where he was shot to death while saving the lives of numerous students.
His family will be presented the plaque in Florida.
