Ventura police searching for suspect in security officer stabbing
VENTURA, Calif. May 21 2017– A security guard is recovering from a stab wound he received to the abdomen while investigating a strange noise at the fence line of a property located at 250 S. Mills Road.
Ventura police say that as the victim, Timothy Hernandez, entered a homeless encampment at the edge of the property, he was stabbed by an unknown object.
The stabbing happened just before 2 a.m. on Friday.
Police believe the suspect was a transient, and although no detailed description of the male suspect is known, police say he may be between 25-35 years old.
Hernandez was taken to Ventura County Medical Center and was treated for a non-life threatening injury.
Ventura police, assisted by the California Highway Patrol, set up a perimeter around the crime scene. A Ventura police K-9 unit searched for the suspect for several blocks but was unable to locate him.
