R.I. correctional officer accused of trying to pass counterfeit bill at nightclub
PROVIDENCE, R.I. March 13 2018 — A veteran correctional officer was charged with attempting to pass a counterfeit $20 bill at the Dark Lady nightclub over the weekend.
Providence Police arrested Iris Rodriguez Jones, 48, on Saturday night, after she allegedly tried to use a fake bill to pay the cover charge at the nightclub.
When a security officer asked her to use “real money,” Jones became argumentative and refused to leave, telling the officer to call the police, according to a police report.
So, they did.
Jones was arraigned in handcuffs Monday at District Court on charges of passing a counterfeit bill, a felony, and disorderly conduct. No plea was entered on the felony charge, as is customary at the District Court level.
Judge Patrick O’Neil set bail at $5,000 personal recognizance.
