Bat-wielding robbers cause panic at Roseville Galleria
Roseville CA May 23 2017 Police are searching for a group of masked robbers who caused panic at the Westfield Galleria in Roseville on Monday afternoon when they smashed a jewelry store’s windows with baseball bats and stole merchandise.
Dee Dee Gunther, a Roseville police spokeswoman, said the incident was reported at 3:13 p.m. at DeVons Jewelers inside the mall. She said the individuals, who were wearing masks, smashed the store windows and fled with merchandise.
Gunther said people inside the mall panicked when they hear the sound of breaking glass and what some mistook as gunshots. No shots were fired, Gunther said.
Roseville police are working with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department in an effort to locate the robbers, she said.
Gunther said the mall remained open.
