A man has been charged after allegedly carrying a knife into the Tamworth courthouse.
The 35-year-old Kootingal man entered the court precinct about 12.10pm on Monday.
Court security requires every person to be screened by a walk-through, airport-style metal detector and have their belongings x-rayed by a machine.
The man was ordered to go through security screening but sheriffs allegedly discovered the knife, described as a credit card folding knife.
The weapon, which is prohibited, was seized and the man was stopped by sherrifs and arrested and charged by police.
In 2015, a man was jailed for carrying a taser into court and another man was arrested after he tried to carry a machete into the Tamworth court precinct to answer his charges.
In 2016, an airport style x-ray scanner was installed in the foyer of the Tamworth court precinct to scan people for dangerous items when entering the complex.
