Beverly Hills security officer assaulted during jewelry store robbery
BEVERLY HILLS CA March 18 2018 —The Beverly Hills Police Department arrested three suspects in connection to a Commercial Burglary that transpired on Tuesday, March 13.
Lt. Elisabeth Albanese indicated in a press release to Canyon News that at 11:40 p.m., the BHPD received a report of a burglary in progress in the 400-block of N. Rodeo Dr.
A security officer confronted three suspects inside a jewelry store who accessed the store after smashing a glass door.
One of the suspects assaulted the security guard, as he tried to stop them.
The three suspects fled the scene in a car.
Officers responded to the scene and surrounding area to search for the suspects’ vehicle.
The suspects were located in the area of Wilshire Boulevard and Veteran Avenue
An enforcement stop was attempted, but the suspects failed to yield and a chase ensued.
The pursuit stopped in the area of Manhattan Beach Boulevard and Cranbrook Avenue in the city of Lawndale, after the driver abruptly stopped, got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.
The driver was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. The other two suspects were apprehended from the vehicle and several pieces of stolen jewelry were recovered during the investigation.
Brenden Clayton, 22, of Bellflower, was arrested for Robbery, Commercial Burglary, Eluding a Pursuing Peace Officer and Obstructing a Peace Officer. Clayton is on Felony Probation for Conspiracy to Commit Pimping.
Markess Damond Coleman, 20, of Los Angeles was arrested for Robbery and Commercial Burglary. Coleman is on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS), per AB109, for Assault. Jamel Kenneth Walker, 20, of Cypress was arrested for Robbery and Commercial Burglary. Walker is on Summary Probation for Possession of Burglary Tools.
Clayton and Coleman are being held without bail. Walker is being held on $100,000 bail. All 3 suspects were scheduled to appear at the Airport Courthouse on Friday, March 16 for arraignment.
