Wichita Volleyball Academy owner arrested for sexual exploitation of a child
WICHITA, Kan. March 27 2018
The owner of Wichita Volleyball Academy has been arrested for one count of sexual exploitation of a child.
The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office says 44-year-old Jeffrey Sanders was arrested Friday following a month-long investigation by the Exploited and Missing Child Unit. Sanders was booked for one count of sexual exploitation of a child and released on bond.
Sanders owns Wichita Volleyball Academy where he coaches hundreds of girls each year. According to the business’s website, Sanders also offers private volleyball lessons.
Sanders sent the following message to all WVU volleyball parents and coaches:
I am writing to let you know that I will be running the day to day club needs, but will not be at the courts for training. I am taking a personal leave. Your team coach, as well as the other lead coaches we have, will complete the season with your team as planned.
Sanders also worked as an assistant coach for the Wichita State volleyball team. He was fired in 2013 after he was arrested for driving under the influence. At the time, the WSU athletic director said Sanders’ conduct was “detrimental to the athletic program”.
KAKE News has reached out to Sanders for a comment but has not heard back.
