Security officer detains drunk driver fleeing police after crashing
OKLAHOMA CITY OK March 28 2018Â An Oklahoma City man is behind bars after driving erratically in a parking lot, ramming another car and then crashing the car he was driving.
Devon Beachem, 29, was arrested around 2:00 a.m. yesterday morning. He is facing charges of assault of a dangerous weapon, leaving the scene of an injury accident and DUI personal injury.
Witnesses described Beachem as doing donuts in the parking lot of the Red Dog Saloon. After doing donuts, police say Beachem started to ram into other cars in the parking lot. In one of the cars he pinned a victim who refused treatment at the scene. Beachem then fled the scene.
After police arrived, another call went out stating that there was an injury accident at Northwest 23rd and North MacArthur Boulevard. The cars description matched the same description given to police at the saloon.
After the crash, Beachem tried to run away. A security guard at a nearby store saw Beachem run away from the scene and chased him down and detained him. The security guard waited for officers to arrive and were able arrest him.
Authorities state that there was an odor of alcohol on Beachem and in the car that he wrecked.
