Woman arrested at Fonner Park after allegedly kicking security officer, threatening police
Grand Island NE April 3 2018 Joyce Prunty was arrested Friday at Fonner Park after she allegedly kicked a security officer and threatened Grand Island police officers.
Officers were called to the Fonner keno area at about 7:15 p.m. in reference to an intoxicated female causing a disturbance and needing to be removed.
On the way, officers were notified that Double Lock Security had the female detained due to her behavior. When police arrived, she was being pinned down by security staff members screaming derogatory statements toward security and a police officer.
“This caused several other patrons to stop and look, with several being children,” says the police affidavit.
A member of the security staff said the woman, identified as Prunty, had kicked him in the leg, causing pain.
Prunty, who is homeless, was taken to CHI Health St. Francis for medical clearance.
“There she threatened to shoot another officer in the head while they sat in their cruiser,” says the affidavit, written by Officer Adam Kully. Once cleared, Prunty was transported to Hall County Jail.
“While en route, she threatened to kill my wife and kids,” Kully wrote.
Courtney Frei was the arresting officer.
Monday in Hall County Jail, the 63-year-old Prunty was charged with two counts of terroristic threats and third-degree assault. Judge Art Wetzel scheduled a preliminary hearing for 9:30 a.m. May 3 and set bond at $5,000.
