Brothers’ security firm named Signal 88 Franchisees of the Year
Mobile AL April 12 2018 Donnie and Steve Saucier came to Alabama after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, determined to make their mark in security.
They have. The brothers were honored by Signal 88, a Nebraska-based international security firm, as being the franchisees of the year this winter.
The Saucier brothers own four Signal 88 locations in Alabama – in Mobile, Tuscaloosa, Auburn and Birmingham. It’s the second year in a row of honors for the two, after they were named Number 1 Franchise Producer for the company in 2016.
Their latest honor came when they were picked from 100 franchises around the country. Kevin Jones, chief development officer for Signal 88, said the Sauciers are the No. 1 revenue producer for the company in the U.S.
“Their growth is in the top 10,” Jones said. “One of the things I appreciate the most about them is the efforts they go through to make sure clients are happy. They hire strong people and they have a very stringent hiring process. They make sure performance is part of the job, and that trickles down through the company. They keep their clients longer.”
Donnie Saucier is a retired law enforcement officer with 23 years of experience. He and his brother started in the Mobile market and grew their firm, with Steve handling the business side. Donnie oversees operation experience and personnel.
What’s their secret? Donnie says their business mixes Signal 88’s technology and national presence with personal attention to the customer. Their locations focus on security for industrial manufacturing and apartment complexes, among other clients.
“We make regular visits to the property, make frequent phone calls, and we do whatever it takes within the law to meet the client’s needs,” Donnie said.
They include a security assessment, which directs the client to whatever could improve security. Based on the client, they can place guards or do regular patrols of the property. Some clients are very specific about what they want to see in guard qualifications.
“We love veterans and current and former law enforcement,” he said.
Winning the award feels good, Donnie said, as the brothers are competitive by nature.
“It’s a big honor,” he said. “We were actually pretty shocked. It’s a large company with a lot of franchises, and all the owners are great people who have great operations. To be selected as the top dog is always a reward. It’s something we strive for every year.”
