Security thwarts burglars at Greenspoint Mall
Houston TX May 26 2017 Three suspected burglars are at large after breaking into Greenspoint Mall in north Houston.
A security guard at the mall was alerted to the suspects – described only as young males – around 2:15 a.m. when he heard glass shatter, said John Cannon, spokesman for the Houston Police Department.
The security guard spotted the three suspects near a vacant Macy’s store.
When the security guard approached them, the three suspects ran into the abandoned department store, Cannon said.
The security guard found a broken exterior glass door and interior glass door inside of the Macy’s that the suspects could have used to get into the mall, Cannon said.
HPD officers with the canine unit searched the entire mall but failed to find the suspects.
It was not immediately clear if the suspects had managed to nab any merchandise from the mall.
They could face charges of burglary of a building, which is a felony, Cannon said.
HPD is asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
