Iowa man accused of fighting two security guards at Surf Ballroom
CLEAR LAKE IA May 6 2018 – A Central Iowa man was arrested for assault at the Surf Ballroom Wednesday.
Paul Raymond Ellis, 45, of Ogden, was charged with two counts of assault following an incident at the Surf Ballroom, 460 N. Shore Dr., in Clear Lake.
At about 10:12 p.m., Ellis was allegedly found in a restricted area and was asked to leave by Surf security.
According to court documents, he would not leave and security had to remove him from the area.
“The security had to force the defendant to leave the restricted area,” the criminal complaint said.
When security removed him, Ellis began fighting and assaulted the security guards, injuring two of them, Clear Lake police said in the criminal complaint.
Ellis was booked in Cerro Gordo County Jail and later posted $300 bond.
He is scheduled to appear in Cerro Gordo County Court May 18.
