Yolo County man charged with assaulting security officer
Yolo County CA May 31 2018 A man was jailed on assault and battery charges last week after reportedly fighting a security guard, Davis police reported Tuesday.
The incident began at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday at a business in the 1800 block of East Eighth Street, where the security guard had confronted the suspect, identified as Joseph Arch Sherman, for bothering customers, Lt. Paul Doroshov said.
“When the security guard asked Sherman to leave, Sherman attempted to walk inside the store. The security officer attempted to stop Sherman from entering the store. In response, Sherman physically assaulted the security guard,” Doroshov said.
Police arrested Sherman, 56, and lodged him at the Yolo County Jail. The security guard suffered no visible injuries, according to Doroshov.
