Man armed with a gun killed by police on Phoenix bus
PHOENIX AZ May 31 2018 – Police responded to transit security officer’s call about a man with a gun this afternoon.
According to Phoenix police, around 2:30 p.m. officers responded to that call for a report of a man with a gun in the area of the transit center, near Interstate 17 and Dunlap Avenue.
When they arrived, police were directed to a man sitting on a bus.
The suspect, 34-year-old Rabi Brown was reportedly “manipulating a handgun” while on a bench before police arrived.
The officers entered the bus and ordered the suspect to not touch the gun. Brown reportedly ignored their commands and produced a handgun from his pocket.
Both of the officers fired their weapons, hitting the suspect. Police say Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officers were not hurt in the incident. According to police, there were a number of other passengers on the bus during the shooting.
Police say a live handgun round was later found on the ground near where the shooting happened.
The suspect has not been identified at this time.
