Detroit security guard fatally shoots man at hotel
Detroit MI June 11 2018 A 42-year-old man was fatally shot in the back by a security guard, after an altercation early Sunday at a hotel on Detroit’s east side, police said.
The fatal shooting took place about 7 a.m. at the Cabana Motel on the 12200 block of Harper, just north of Interstate 94 and east of Conner.
Police say the victim got into an argument with a security guard at the motel and was shot in his back during the altercation.
The victim’s brother arrived at the scene and took him to a hospital.
Police have identified the victim as man in his late 30s or early 40s, but aren’t releasing the name just yet. Family members were at the hospital this morning where the victim was pronounced dead.
As the investigation continues, police are reviewing surveillance video of the scene.
The security officer was detained but not arrested at this time.
